anyone have any ideas for this problem the assembled length of the steering column is apx 1 inch to short to reach the gear when bolted under the dash . I had to remove that bracket and move it towards the steering wheel only allowing me to use only 1 bolt per side that allowed the assy to move towards the gear see pics thanks for any ideas

On a B-body the shaft was a different length for power and manual steering. You got the right column?

Post a few pics of the column. Seems that it has some wrong parts.

Your under dash mounting bracket doesn't look to be correct. This is off my 71 Challenger.
