FYI, those values are not the VIN. But they do say some things about the motor, which was built offsite, and trucked to the factory for assembly into the vehicle.

1972 Casting, Mound Road Plant, 318 Displacement, Regular Fuel, Built 11 Jan 1972, Tested 25 Jan 1970 or motor #125 built on 11 Jan

I’ve looked everywhere for a readable VIN. This is all I could find. It’s not stamped where the three of my 340’s were stamped.

From memory, the location is: on the driver side of the block, facing out (not down to oil pan), mid-way between front and rear of oil pan, a flat area just above the oil pan lip? No flattened area that may be painted over?

I don't believe the body data is on the engine. It could have come from anything in 1972, a-body, e-body, etc., take your pick from what the Hamtramck assembly plant was cranking out.

I forget which member on here has a registry concerning these vins. He told me what all three of my 340’s were out of.

The vin is on the passengers side. @pschlosser

290784
All you can do is look for other vins in that year and see how close in sequence they are to this number. That might narrow down what type of car this came out of.
@Matt68
Have you looked on the Hamtramck historical society website?
Barry Washington might have some info on this motor. Worth a try.
