Do 275/60/15's fit a 15x7 rim?

I want to get a pair of 15x7 Rallye rims for the rear of my 73 challenger. Classic Industries has them with 4-1/4" backspacing. Can I put a 275/60/15 tire on these, or do I have to get 15x8 Rallye's to make a 275 fit? I have air shocks and the fenders are rolled. Thanks for the help!

On the BF Goodrich site, the recommended rim size is 7.5 to 9.5 for that tire size
I have however seen it done before. It looked ok, a little odd to me, but it will fit. its just not recommended.

If you want the tread to lie flat against the ground, the 8" is the proper rim width. Using the proper wheel offset will allow the tire to fit into the fenderwell. Air shocks should never be used for any reason to get tire clearance. Air shocks put excessive load on the upper shock mount which is not designed to carry load. You can actually cause the mount to break off.

Thanks guys. That tire size chart is great. Never saw that before.... I don't know why I'm afraid to put 15x8" Rallye's on. I guess the 4-5/8" backspacing on those makes me nervous that they'll rub on my leaf springs. They sure would look awesome though....

I have had one of my Challengers for almost 40 years and have learned by trial and error. It is not the width but the offset is the most important measurement.15 X 8 Rally or Magnums really make the car.
