I worked for Esso/Exxon as a garage mechanic. In the late 60's Esso had a campaign "Put a tiger in your tank" giving away tiger tails to be hung by your gas fill up. Exxon still kept the Tiger as a corporate symbol in the early 70's
Picked up this display tiger when the boss was throwing it out and kept it all these years. Just thought it was still kind of cool, and put it up in my garage.

I remember getting fuzzy tiger stickers from there as a kid. There were collector cards (hockey?) and other cool stuff.

I worked at an ESSO then EXXON Station early -mid 70s. Have one unopened can of Uniflow 10w-40 from the first batch of the new wax paper quart cans in 1972. Sets on my garage shelf.

They looked too real to me as a kid, but I get a chuckle now.
I don't think of the time I was five often enough, thanks!

I remember those tails also. Didn't Pontiac use a similar tail as a promo for the GTO tiger or is my old brain just confusing the two? Paharamia, you should call American Pickers and offer your tiger for a tidy sum!!!!

I like it...but you might want to paint your walls and fix that thermostat thingy on the wall to better enjoy it. LOL!

Yea, just moved in 1 1/2 yrs ago.
Former owner had these hooks all over the garage to hang things.
Need to spend a day with a bucket of spackle and primer.

Yes Pontiac did have an ad which was about having a "Tiger in Your Tank" in the early 70's.
