GAINS FROM RAISED PORTING INTAKE AND ALUMINUM HEADS

Yup, got steel cross bolt caps on 1 thru 4. Steel rear cap too. Gonna fill at least half way up too. Once I sonic it I will decide on the bore size.probably plus .060, maybe bigger. I regularly bore BBCs and 460 Fords .125 to .155 over.
I have done a few street race 440s filled to within an inch below the bottom of the deck with big overbores with great results.
On MOPARS, and everything else that's possible, I always unshroud the valves to or over the bore size. BBChebbies, turbo Buick V-6s, B and RB motors always get bore notched to just above the top ring travel.
Cometic makes Mickey Mouse eared head gaskets and on motors they don't, I run the biggest bore size gaskets available, and unshroud to that.
I have met a LOT of "professional" porters that still believe the porting stops at the valve seat!!! LOL!!!!
When I am done with the remodeling on my house I will get on my 512+ in ernest.

That's why the block fill. It keeps the walls rigid, allows those extra cubes, and also allows more valve unshrouding with the valve side of the chamber opened up.
The fire is out in the first inch or so of the stroke so water isn't needed much past there.
That's one of the beauties of the Ford 351 W motors. A short water jacket that keeps the wall rigid and an unjacketed bottom inch and a half. And a long rod/ tall deck. But their factory heads do suck.
