it seems I’m going to have to replace the headers on my 340 and it’s been so long since I put them on I have no idea what brand they were. I just remember they fit OK but I’ve heard some fit better than others so I was just hoping to get a little feedback on what’s a reasonably priced set of headers that seemed to fit well.

Reasonable pricing on quality headers is what you want to spend. I've used the Dougs D453 with great success and TTI also has a set that would work for you. Really depends on if you want them ceramic coated or just plain. The plain ones come black but it is only shipping paint that will quickly burn off.

For the amount of work to change them I would not worry about cost just buy good ones
Top 3 are
TTI Ceramic
Dougs Ceramic
Hooker 5115 , you would have to get them coated , can't buy them done .
these all stay above the steering center link & fit well .
