Heater control knob removal?

Hello, I posted this in the heater section earlier, thought I might get some replies on here. I am replacing my heater switch panel bezel but I don't know how the knobs come off of the levers? Do just the knobs come off or does the longer plastic also need to be pulled off the levers? Thanks.

i've only messed with AC heater controls but for the temp control you need to disconnect the cable at the rear and remove the retaining clip and the entire lever slides out the front. I assume it's the same for the ones on the bottom.

OMG, thank you. That sounds so simple. Why didn't I think of that? I just assumed they needed to go out to the rear. You have saved the day, thanks for replying.
