Recently purchased a bag of bolts and what used to be a 72 Cuda. Getting ready for the long haul ahead.

I haven't worked on a restoration project for a long while. My last two builds a Bentley GT Replica and a 430 Ferrari Spider that were both built with fiberglass body's. I'm hoping some of you fine people can steer me in the right direction when I begin this project. I purchased the car without a drive train so I am considering the 5.7 with a 4 speed. Until that time comes, I have plenty of replacement sheet metal to deal with.

Welcome from WA State.

Sounds like fun I am doing a 5.7 with a 4 spd in a 71 Charger (in the future after I get a couple of client's cars done).

My one recommendation to you would to determine what you want the end result to be and/or do. This will help you make decision about what to buy and how to build.

Point in case, when I built my 73 Cuda I wanted it to be a sort of restomod road race inspired car. I (like everyone) made a lot of compromises and concessions along the way but in the end it worked out.

Welcome to the site from Arkansas! Sounds like a cool project. All I can recommend is to make it the way you want it. Be realistic with how you will use the car. I Look forward to seeing the project.
glad you joined up!

I'm not sure of a build thread on this site or I would post it.
If you want to follow along with a full pro mod build then look at this guys thread.
Not saying he's the best or anything, just pointing out that he is doing what you are talking about doing and he lists step by step what he is doing. This can help your process.

Thanks for the pics. Interesting look how you mixed the later grill with the driving lights, I like it. What did you do for turn signals? Did you go 70 or 72-74 for the tail lights?

Sounds like we will be trading notes when you start your Charger.

I moved the turn signals to inside the headlights (bought headlights that had turn signals in them). I am using the original 73 taillights which I actually prefer over the 70 and 71 taillights.

Originally I bought the car for my son as his first car based on what he told me but it didn't take long before he was overwhelmed and uninterested so I got him something else (91 Dodge Stealth RT) and took the car on as my own project. The objective was to make it like a road race style restomod. It has a 416 stroker, 4 speed, EFI 6 pack, custom instrument cluster/interior, mini tubs, triangular 4 link, Viper front calipers, rear disc, etc.

That car took me a very long time to build but it came out pretty much the way I envisioned it to be.

Good idea with the turn signals. Sounds like you put a lot of hours into it. Nice work for sure.
