Hey everyone, my name is Nick. I joined about a month ago and never properly introduced myself. I am 24 years old and am originally from ND. I am currently in the Army and stationed with the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii. I absolutely love e bodies, especially the 71 Cuda and the 70 Challenger. In my opinion these cars exemplify what a muscle car should be. I don't have any pictures to post, seeing as how I don't own one yet. I'm currently looking for a project car, nothing #'s matching or rare. Just a good base to build from. If you guys have any projects or know of any other site with good links to project cars, please just let me know. I've been dreaming about Cudas and Challengers since about 14. Just looking to finally make it a reality. Anyways, just wanted to say hi and tell you all a little about myself. Talk to you soon. :)

Welcome to the group! I loved Hawaii when I was there-How green the plants are, the weather and the people. PS my father was stationed there during WWII (Navy).

Hey guys, thanks for the welcoming. I have been checking the for sale sections and been on Cuda-Challenger and Cudaworld. Seems like everything is so damn expensive! I know the 70-71s are the most popular years for both the Challenger and the Cudas. How much work would it take to convert a different year into say a '71 Cuda or a '70 Challenger? Personally, I've got no problem with owning a clone, I'm not in it for the resale, in it for the love.

Welcome and I will help

Troy from Lake Tahoe here. 8 year veteran myself. Got out at the end of the first trip to the sand box.

I go over to Hawaii about every other year on vacation. Usually the big island but sometimes where you are at. I was there last spring in a friends condo.

Anyhow keep searching craigslist in areas such as Oregon, Northern Nevada, and Idaho. These areas seem to produce the most decent cars for the best prices. I will also keep an eye out for you. I might also drop a car for you at the shipping joint in Oakland. I do have a car hauler but I'm not sure they will allow anything that wont run. I would keep your search limited to runners. 318 cars are the cheapest. Cuda's are more $$$ than Challenger's on the average.

I suggest you buy a 73-74 Challenger. Pull the front bumper in and put a 70 bumper on the rear. It will look very good and not cost a fortune.

I just bought my first E body last week. 74 Challenger. I'm gonna make what I want out of the car. I don't really care about number matching anything.

Closing for now. Thanks for your service and here is my home e-mail. Shoot me an e-mail I will will start looking for you in my spare time. [email protected]

Hey Troy, thanks a lot for the links as well as the advice on where to find 'em. Is it difficult to replace tail panels? I've been doing some research but just thought I'd flat out ask. I'm in the sandbox right now as we speak, just looking forward to getting back soon, figured I may as well start looking so maybe I can get something when I get back and go on block leave. Thanks again, I really appreciate the help.

E bodys

I'm not familiar with tail panel replacement. Shouldn't be that big of a deal. I would just buy one from someone parting out a car or see if AMD makes new repro's. Any good body guy should be able to replace it. I don't do body work, so that is the most help I can offer. :D

Better yet, don't buy a car needing tail panel replacement........

I think he was thinking about swapping tailpanels from a `70 or `71 model to a `73-4 model so he could use the earlier tail lights on a later model car. This isn't as difficult as you might think, but would require a spot weld cutter( Blair is the best), a 4 or 5" grinder, air or electric, and a good mig welder, which also can be had from Craigslist, I suggest Miller, Hobart or Lincoln with gas. Steer clear of the units that you can't use the gas and require flux core wire.
