Details: 1973 LA block, machine shop .030 over, Mopar Purple 268/272 , 450/455 cam kit. Replaced old org heads with 340 Commando Alum heads (P4876785) 2.02 Int , 1.60 exh.. Stock push rods. cam kit lifters. Oil supply is good.
Problems: First time cranking eng heard several popping noise. Stopped and pulled intake, found two broken lifters, # 4 and #3 . replaced broken lifters, pulled passenger side head, no damaged. Put engine back together. Fired up engine and ran ok for about 45 seconds and smoked really bad. Shut off , let set a couple of days and notice oil dripping out of driver side header.
Actions/Questions: Called Mopar Performance tech line. Seems these heads with this PN were discontinued in 2009 ( I bought mine new from them in 2007). They had nothing reported about oil leaking into cyl. I've noticed the valve seals ( Vito pn:p4120492) are not down over the valve stem guides ( floating ). Has anyone out there heard of this or experienced this problem ? HELP ! Thanks Robb.
