I am going to assume he mistook a G (71) for a C as it’s really difficult to see.

Motor has VIN stamp on oil pan rail, correct casting number and date. (8/12 casting on 9/8 assembled vehicle) Confident it’s original motor.

Always a special moment. Car seems as advertised but had to run to work without really looking at her. Will give her a once over tonite.

Finally got out to shop today and couldn’t resist wiping off some road grime with detailed and microfiber cloth.

I have a bunch of questions and will likely do a series of posts in this section.

First order of business: the 80s called and they want their steering wheel wrap back.

Second was the addition of dryer sheets and peppermint oil soaked bounty to keep the mice at bay. I’ve had great success with those noxious odors in the car and peanut butter traps under the cars.

I already verified casting number, casting date and then vin stamp on the block but the seller had difficulty finding the stamped pad tucked under the distributor. When he finally did he had an issue reading it but no longer any issue. G383 for a 1971 383, and HP (lower corner out of view) and 9 2, which I’m going to assume is September 2 for the engine assembly. The vehicle was assembled on September 8 and casting date on block is August 12. Everything lines up.
