Mystery Holes in my firewall?

So I'm getting things put back together and my son asks what are the two holes for? I look and I don't recall anything being there. One has a grommet that looks like something was rubbing on it and the other may have been cut in at some point as the edges are rough.
It's a 73 Barracuda originally a 318 with auto trans and the fender tag also indicates auto trans. Any thoughts?

Thanks, I was wondering where the clutch rod would have gone if someone would have done a conversion at some point. Definitely not where these holes are.

Who knows what it was for a wire a cable or a tube? you guess is as good as mine or better.Choke?

Just make sure to seal them tightly as you don't want Carbon Monoxide poisoning.

Thanks! I plugged the holes, I don't see any use for them.

I've owned two 70 Cuda's and neither one of them had those holes. I agree with ChallengerRTA, someone made those holes, they aren't factory.
