I've seen discussion on FABO, FBBO and FEBO that the OEM trim rings for 14 x 6 OEM rallyes are the same as for 14 x 5-1/2 rallyes, with the trim ring measuring approx. 2-3/8" vertically from tabletop to top of trim ring lip (P/N 2944424?) and so when installed on a 14 x 6 rallye that there will be a small gap of about 1/4" or so between the bottom of the trim ring and the wheel.

Below is a photo of what the owner says are OEM 14 x 6 rallyes with OEM brushed trim rings off of his '72 Challenger. Notice how the bottom of the trim rings sit nearly flush against the wheel, without the gap at the bottom of the trim ring seen on some OEM 14" rallyes. Do the rings in the photo appear OEM, and if so are they in fact deeper than P/N2944424? Inquiring minds want to know!

Thanks, Dave

You are free to run whatever size wheel you want. in fact, they make rallye wheel reproductions in many sizes and offsets to suit your needs.

I seem to recall some swap meet wisdom suggesting the "beauty rings" are the same for the 14 x 5 and 14 x 5-1/2 wheels. Section 22-01-41 in the parts book suggests there is one beauty ring for all 14-inch rallye wheels.

I cannot find where a 14 x 6 rallye wheel was ever made or used on any car in 1970 or 1972 (i checked the parts books) If these are indeed 14 x 6, they may be reproductions... not a big deal. They may measure 6-inch when measured outside the wheel.

Regardless what these wheels "came off of" there is a part number visible on the rim, right near the valve stem.

If you want OEM, the part numbers are found in the dealer parts book section 22-01-5.
