I had to open up rebuilt engine, removed oil pan and oil pump. I threw out oil pump gasket. Now im reading that some dont use a gasket and some do. Looks like i just cant purchase one by itself, any sugguestions?

I've seen small blocks with them and without them from the factory. Since you're having trouble finding one, make sure both surfaces (pump and rear main cap) are smooth and install the pump without a gasket. It's inside the motor, so any small leak isn't going to affect anything without a gasket. Now just suppose somehow if you install the gasket, it blows a section out and now you have a bigger leak and big pressure drop. That's much worse than no gasket!

By the way (for others who read this), Big Blocks have to have a gasket because the oil pump mounts outside the engine.
