Hello All,

I am installing my emergency brake cable, front to rear, and I can't figure out where the support hook goes. Its on chapter 5 page 28 in the FSM but it is not very clear. It looks like it goes somewhere near the transmission mount or through the mounting area and hooks on the other side, but to what? If anyone knows or has picture of where it goes please let me know. Thank you.

If my memory doesn't fail me, it goes dead center of the transmission cross member. Under the tail shaft of the transmission, but above the cross member support.

Thank you pschlosser. I will take a look tomorrow morning and hopefully it is where it goes. I took the car apart in 1988 and took a lot of pictures but not the ones I need... lol

No. I get a picture where it goes on the body. Give me a minute. that place is for those that don't know but it works. OK it took me 2 minutes.

@larry4406 I found the location of the "S" hook. It goes to the top side of the transmission mount between the transmission and transmission mount, not on the bottom side as in your picture. Exactly opposite of where you have it in the picture. If you keep it there (your pictures location) it interferes with the exhaust. In the opposite position it will keep it clear of the exhaust and driveshaft.

@Challenger RTA Thank you for picture. My car is an automatic so I don't have the access hole in that location. Yes I should have typed parking brake like my post title. I'm just used to saying emergency brake because most people have no idea what a parking brake is... lol

If you could post a picture of your s hook location. It would help others. The location on mine is a 11 70 build. The floor pan can and might be different on different years. The location keeps it clear of exhaust and drive shaft when adjusted correctly. I'm thinking it is very close or touching the drive shaft when applied. But that is not a problem when the car is parked. I would have to look.

Thanks for clarifying for me.

Here is a couple pictures of where the "S" hook should be installed. The FSM is a little vague but the pictures I have posted should make sense of the location. My car is an automatic. The placement may be different on a standard E-Body. I did buy an "S" hook from a reputable dealer and it was much shorter than the factory piece. The "S" hook in the pictures is my factory piece.
