Planning to swap out my standard gage instrument cluster for a Ralley cluster. I have the gages/ bezels/ New wood grain on the aluminum.
All the necessary dash trim for the Ralley. Big question is the wireing harness. Classic has it for $700 +
Do I really need to spend that or do you think my 40+ yr harness should be upgraded.
1971 Challenger 318 auto- going to 440 / 4spd......
Any help or thoughts appreciated.

Well, I did that swap decades ago and am still using the 55 year old dash wiring (‘70 Barracuda convertible). Did my own alteration for the oil gauge and tach. Your list of “have” doesn’t show rallye oil gauge sending unit, just saying’.

There is a little more to this. Read over the below diagram and understand and you will have a good comprehension of the major problem of the wiring. From the bulkhead connector to the amp gauge. (Myself I would do something else. ALT bypass) Follow the dotted path.
Other than that check all others for good clean and tight connections. Inspect all the connections and the end of the wire for brittleness. Same for the under steering column plug sometimes there is an issue there.
Mine has the original harness. I cleaned up and inspected the harness. Redid a few bulkhead connectors and plug connectors.
Did an ALT Bypass, headlight relay circuit (Yeah check you foot dimmer sw too.) And put a volt gauge in. The amp gauge would be ok if you want to keep it. Just reroute the Batt and ALt feeds with a heaver feed. Removing or rerouting the high current loads is the key.

As

EW1BH27 mentioned you will have to change or add a few circuits.
