Hello,

Looking to put a Rallye dash in a 70 Challenger. I kind of remember the 70, and maybe 71, dashes have unique features, where the 72-74 were the same. Is this correct?

Can anybody list the differences if not too much trouble?

70 and 71 have the trip odometer and clock reset buttons protrude from the woodgrain (not the gauge & clock's plexiglass). No graphics on the switch panel woodgrain, just the labels. 70 & 71 tachs were 8K too, not 7K. No seat belt indicator either. 70 - 71 used a variable speed wiper switch and different motor w/some linkage changes. If accuracy isn't important the existing 2 speed wiper motor/switch setup will work fine. Pictured is a conversion package I sold a few years ago.

70 dash had Challenger or Barracuda embossed in the Dash. Save money by putting a plate with either name after 70 on the dash pad.

So 70 and 71 Rallye dash (not the pad) are the same? reason I ask is so I know what to look for to be "correct".

I have a 71 Cuda that had the unrally dash. I took a 72 Challenger rally dash gauges and put in the 71 dash. I also took the wiring harness from the 72 Challenger to put in my Cuda. I would think all Ebody dashes were the same, just the rally package or the the regular gauges are the difference.

To clarify, the 1970 dashes had a script writing out "Barracuda" or "Challenger" over on the right side of the dash.

But starting in 1971, Chrysler Corp (presumably to save manufacturing costs) changed to a rectangular emblem, allowing the same dash pad to be used in both Challengers and Barracudas just by changing out the emblem.

Were there 2 different rallye 4 light bars?
YES! 1970 Challenger is unique, for Rallye and Standard. All others (71 - 74 Challenger & 70 - 71 Barracuda/Cuda) are the same. Explanation and pictures at Reply#10 and Reply#18 in the link.

1970 Challenger Rallye Light Bar shape versus straight E-Bodies Light Bar. The picture at right shows the different labels for the switch panel and the later added graphics of a headlight and windshield wiper/washer.
