As I assemble a interior from a complete tear down i noticed that when I hook up my battery to check lights and stereo this little cylindrical unit that plugs into a connector shaped like a headlight connector it gets hot for some reason. Anything I should worry about? I’m reusing the original under dash wiring harness. It says made in USA on the end.

It is the timer delay canister for the interior lights. Your car must have the A01 light group option.
Might pay to take it out if you are leaving the doors open for long periods.

Thanks I will keep that in mind as I get further along. So is it supposed to turn them off after a certain amount of time?

I believe that is only for the ignition light at the ignition switch.

It keeps the ignition key lamp and the switch cluster illumination lamps on for about 20-30 seconds.
All the other lights go straight out when you close the door.
Don't tuck it in to the wiring keep it separated.
