shifter cable for 73 challenger

Im looking for a stock shifter cable for a friend with a 73 Challenger, auto , I beleive its a 727 trans. Anybody know where I can get one?

Slap Sticks are linkage and not cable aren't they? toolman

Yep, they use a linkage system. There is a rod that runs from the shifter to a pivot shaft that goes down throught the floor. Then there is a second rod that runs from the pivot shaft to the trans.

A 73 Challenger could have had a 727 or a 904 depending on what engine it had. I would assume that the linkage for the two trans would be a little different. At least the one under the car anyway. I don't know that for sure but that is what I'm guessing.

The pivot shaft rides in a bracket/bushing that is attached to the trans. Make sure you have that part too.
