Hello everyone,

My speedo cable started making jittering noises and you can also see the needle jumping a bit. Can I re-lubricate the cable? I would prefer that to replacing it if I don't have to.

Thoughts?

Sometimes lubing the cable works, but often it does not. I prefer to replace the cable as an assembly instead of pulling the core, cleaning, and then lubing. The cost is not bad, and I got mine from Rick Ehrenberg and it fit great. To each his own.

Ehrenberg has this tip in Mopar Action a while back. A factory service bulletin fix. Maybe it will help.

Silicone grease is quick, cheap and easy before replacement of the cable. The rubber heat shrink tubing will probably work, but you're well past the most difficult part of replacement at that point!
