I go through about 1 starter a year, I think due the the heat of the headers and would like to have 'em last a little longer. Anyone using a starter heat shield and has it helped? Scary thing that recently happened is that the starter solenoid got stuck in the ON position and the starter caught on fire!

Ant heat shield will help , AS long as there is an air gap between the shield & starter , preferable both sides of the shield , what headers & do you have any room ?

Thanks Chryc, I have a 340 with Hooker comp headers and will eventually go with some TTI headers. I was going to get the starter heat shield wrap unless there is something better. Moroso 74299 - Moroso Starter Heat Shield?

I would rather have a heat shield over a wrap but they do have Alum wrap that will reflect a lot of heat
