I was talking with a friend today about the 70 cuda and we both agreed the 383 was the base motor and all others were optional. He told me which i've never heard that Chrysler was offering the 340 at no extra charge if you wanted one to promote that engine has anyone ever heard that?

A 71 built in 11-70 340, was $44.35 extra. That's what shows on this window sticker. JS23H1B

The entire car line was available with a /6-225 up to the HEMI or 440 as you know they came with. Some examples of the /6-225 have shown up at car shows.

Back in the day, it was check the box for what you wanted.
AFAIK, the 383 wasn’t the base engine. Most popular? Probably so. But not the automatic engine it came with.

Higher cost for the 340 for JH and BH build. JS and BS build 383 is base. From what I have seen. Had and have 2 RT'S and a T/A. A few 318's 72 73? one was a Rally. Don't remember which one.

All 1970 Cudas (BS) were standard with the 383 4BBL engine and the 340 was a no cost option.

The 383 was standard in the Cuda and RT in 1970 and 1971. The 340 was an extra cost option. There were no big blocks in 1972, 73 or 74.

Barracuda's standard motor would have been the B code 198 /6. The C code 225 slanty was an upgrade from the base model.

I have been looking for a B0B car with m46 option for years.

Cuda Hunter,
You may be searching for a very, long time. AFAIK and all of the documentation I have shows the E24 - 225 CID as the smallest engine available in 1970 for a Barracuda or a Gran Coupe. The dealership order forms do not even show a E22 - 198 CID checkbox.
Do you have a bulletin or any documentation that changed that to where a 198 CID engine could be ordered?

Thanks, @Cuda Hunter.
I will save those BH tags. I see both tags have SPDs in early 1970. Any idea if the E22 198CID engine was added mid-year? There must be a bulletin or other factory documentation if it was a change.

I bought a 1971 Dodge Demon LL29B1B172043 with a 198CID 3-speed manual on the column in 1989 for $600.
It was GB2 with a B7 blue bench seat. Exactly one option, the R11 - AM Radio.

I pulled the Slant Six and transmission out and gave it away to a Mopar buddy. In return, he gave me a complete drum-to-drum 1971 8-3/4" rearend with a 3.23 SureGrip from a 1971 Duster 340. I put that in the Demon with a rebuilt 1969 Dart 340 engine and 727 Auto. New paint and a stripe kit really made the car. It was a very quick car. Here are some pics and the fender tag. B1B

I was searching for any info on 198CID E-Bodies and found this info. It discusses the A93 package which is the Coupe with available 198 CID engine.

"All 198 Bodies are coupes. The Challengers were called Deputy's (only in 1970, I think, they were also just known as Coupes in 1971) and the Barracuda's were Coupes in 1970 and 1971. All such cars were designated A93 on the fender tag and broadcast sheet. The 198 was the base motor offered. Optional motors were 225, 318, 383+2 and 383+4. If the car did not have the A93 code then it was a "regular" Barracuda or Challenger. NO 198 convertibles were made as all A93 cars were coupes. The A93-equipped cars were introduced at the end of FEB 1970, so they were basically a mid-year option that carried into all of the 1971 model year."

Wikipedia had this to say, "Beginning mid-year 1970, and ending with the 1971 model, there also was the Barracuda Coupe (A93), a low-end model with the 198 cu in (3.2 L) Slant Six as a base engine, lower-grade interior, and (like other Coupe series Chrysler offered that year) had fixed quarter glass instead of roll-down rear passenger windows."

And this info on production of 1970 Barracuda Coupe (A93) said, "1970 Barracuda with the A93 package, 945 U.S.-spec cars had either of the Slant Sixes."
That makes a 1970 Barracuda Coupe with a 198 CID engine a very, rare car. This one is a 999 paint code in "Petty" blue. Very, very rare.

I also found this immaculately restored 225 Slant Six Barracuda: https://www.hemmings.com/stories/2021/10/29/is-it-nuts-to-restore-a-slant-six-barracuda

Cool ad. That's quite the car! The c1B fc7 car. They mention the two tags, but do not show the two tags.

The petty blue one above is really cool too. But no tag.
Is that a B0B car with 999 paint? Looks like everything else without a fender tag readout.

I have an A93 C1B fe5 barracuda coupe car.
