Although rare, T/A hoods were installed on non T/A Challengers. Very rare. See page from the E-Body restoration guide. It even gives part numbers for the different engines.

Interesting that it says on the page of the book that the N94 reference hood code on a 70 T/A.
That is not a T/A. That is an N code. JH29N0B440490.

There are, as I can find, 5 challengers with the N94 hood that are documented.

Thanks Cuda! I did correspond w/ Terry about this back in 2010, though not as thoroughly.

As I posted in the restoration guide, David Wise is saying the TA hood did get used and documenting it with Fender Tag and/or broadcast sheet makes it a rare and believable option. And to me it makes sense that a 71 Hemi Challenger would have one! You could have a very unique Hemi Challenger! Obviously one that needs to be restored to concurs level for the masses to enjoy! Although I wouldn't mind you driving it like you stole it! 😁

@turbo383 Intriguing thread. Although the N94 hood was shown as being available in the 1971 Challenger Sales Guide, there doesn't seem to be any 71 Challengers with it that are known to exist. Not to say that there wasn't any made, just none are known. So far, the only known non-T/A Challengers with the N94 hood are those five that @Cuda Hunter listed and they are all '70 models. Of those five N94 equipped non-T/A Challengers I have only seen the fender tags and not the broadcast sheets. As such I don't know how the N94 would be annotated on the broadcast sheet, but I assume that it would be marked by a "4" under the N-group "carb fresh air pkg" block? However, as we all know, you can never say "never" when it comes to Mopars!

I would suggest reaching out to Dan Pausch. Dan is a very knowledgeable "numbers guy" and if I recall correctly, actually owned one of the non-T/A N94 cars listed above and researched it thoroughly. I don't know if he is here on FEBO, but he is on Facebook if you happen to be on there too.

Finally, as you could guess, we would all like to see more pics of the N94 hood and air-cleaner assembly mounted on the car if possible. Thanks for posting!
