underdash shoddy pad vs sound deadener

Has anyone used sound deadener along with the shoddy pad behind the dash? or just deadner instead of shoddy pad?

any thoughts welcomed.

I used the factory style padding behind the dash on the firewall. But make sure that whatever you use that it is not to thick because you may run into the heater box and or ductwork not fitting due to clearance issues. Thats what happened to me.

Although not factory correct, the type of insulation with aluminum foil on it works better.

Of course racing guys don't want any of this extra weight stuff!
