vent repair

I need to reattach the louvers to the metal bar inside the vent and it appears the only way is to remove the rivet on the side. has anyone found a good way to it? or is there another way to do it?

Yeah those pins need to come out. I've done many. With a center punch & hammer, give it a few taps to start it moving, and then sometimes you can pry it up some with a small screwdriver and then use a small vice grips, or just keep going with the punch until it's out. There will be a a small tensioning clip in there as well. The really fun part is putting it all back together.
