I'm sure the small percentage match won't make up for the 10% the troops are losing in this plan. The average soldier gets bent over the bunk once again.
The new Blended Retirement System plan allows a service member to leave before 20 years and take the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) money with the matching government contributions with them. Before this plan, the 80% of service members who never reached full retirement (minimum 20 years) walked away with nothing. At least this plan gives those who choose to leave early something to rollover to a civilian retirement plan or leave it in TSP. It was optional to change over to this plan with <12 years of service when it was first offered with a deadline of December 31, 2018.
