Hello,

I was wondering where everybody puts their oil accumulators in your e-bodies? I am looking to install a 3 qt version in my 73 and looking for options before I order anything up.

Thanks for any help!

I personally hate how they look in the engine bay. I made some chromoly tubular brackets and mounted mine behind my front bumper using the back side of the radiator bolts to mount it with some hex nuts on the radiator bolts pertruding through the core support.

That looks great! I hadn't thought about putting one down there, it looks right at home in that spot. Is the capped 90' fitting that is coming back through the core support for filling the accumulator? Could I ask what brand/capacity is your setup? Also do you know anything about MasterLube accumulators? I'm looking at them as well as a Moroso setup. Thanks for all your help.

It is a Canton Racing Accumulator. Same as Moroso brand and others. It is a 3 quart. I use it as a primer with the electric solenoid which is what fitting you must be seeing and as an accumulator/accusump with a 15 PSI safety switch.

I'm curious as to how you chose 15 psi for the safety switch. This is my 1st accumulator and was wondering what psi switch I would need and the thought behind it? Just trying to learn.

Oops, I was trying to go off of memory. I guess it is a 20-25 psi switch per this photo. I probably purchased it over 15 years ago with no issues. It still works great.
The thought behind it was to always prime the engine before firing. Saves on dry starts. And, while making a pass if the oil pressure was to drop below 20 psi the accumulator injects an extra 3 it's of oil if ever needed just in case.
To me, the several hundred dollars it cost to purchase and plumb it into your oil system is worth the extra insurance to help save an expensive engine.

Wow, just looking at current pricing for them. I want to say they are now almost double for everything from what I have invested into mine.

I would have saved alot of $ if I would have started this car a few years earlier not to mention so many more parts were being made and shops were still in business then.

I'm going to be test fitting my motor/trans before the body shop and I was wondering if you had to do any modification to your inner fender to make it fit? I know you have an Alterkation CM if I remember rightly and I'm using a HDK CM but was curious about getting the passenger valve cover off or anything else that is very close in there?

No, no modifications to the body or inner fenders aprons. I do have Indy rocker covers that I painted with wrinkle finish paint that have a shock tower relief cast into them, if youlook closely. I am able to just barely remove the cover without any issues. Most of my entire engine is studded including the d.s. rocker cover. I did have to change to bolts on the p.s. rocker cover so the cover can slide up and off when removing.
