A Body rear in an E Body

I am hoping someone has done this and can help me out.

With the 295-50-50s on keystone 15 x 10 wheels I need to move the wheels inboard looks like an A body rear may work ( moves them in about 2 inches on each end( looking at axle spec's)
I am hoping this will keep the tries from rubbing ( I already put air shock one but going over bumps I can hear the shocks topping out.
so if anyone has gone this way I could use your help.

I know that a B-body swap is very common in E-bodies.

I just did the B body housing swap last week. Now for an A body housing you would have to move the pearches, and do a spring relocation kit as well. I used the Doctor Diff relocation kit, and it worked out quite nicely.

I have some specs/lengths in inches at home. I think the E is longest of A, B and E bodies.

I don't know if the A will fit without relocation of the frame rails.

how much shorted was the b body one any photos ?

I used the 64-67 B body housing, so I am a little over an inch a side. I am waiting for my third member to get done so I can put the axles back in, but can take pictures of what I have done so far when I get home later today.

Just a couple of pics for now of the offset shackle kit installed. The first one in the front, notice where the original 4 bolts are, and then where the bracket is shifted over. Also, notice the two mounting for the front of the spring. It is to lower the car without affecting the spring rate. The second pic is just the rear mount to show how they are offset. If you would like others pics, I would be happy to take them.

Thanks for sharing the pics. It’s looks real good! So, the perches on the B body housing didn’t have to be moved, right? I like how you dropped it a bit and didn’t distort the spring rate. May I ask what vendor you used for the offset hangers and mounting brackets? It appears that you may get a couple inches of clearance. Very nice.

Correct, the B body perches line up with no problems. The E body perches are 46 inches apart, and the B body is 44 inches. So, the offset is only 1 inch per side. Also, Cass from Doctor Diff told me that the pinion angle is different on the B verses the E, and I could use the top lowering hole to correct it, or use the angle wedge that he sells if I wanted to keep the stock height. The only thing I have to figure out is the rear shocks will not be standard length. Since the shock plates are moved in, and now lowered, it would bottom the shocks out quickly. perches need to be done anyway. so I wonder if between that and maybe the off set set-up may work without changing the rear frame mount??

You need to do the math. The Dr. Diff 1" relocation kit will give you another inch of clearance to the the spring. How much do you have now?
If you look at the drum to drum distance the A body will move the tire in 2.25" on each side. 61.625 - 57.125 = 4.5 divide by 2 = 2.25"
The A body perches are on 43" centers and would need to be moved out to 44" center. Is there room for that? There used to be a 1.5" relocation kit but he stopped making it and I don't think he will restart. Something about rear valance interference?
If my math is right, you need to have at least 1.5" between the tire and spring currently. The absolute number is 1.25" but you want at least a 1/4"+ for sidewall flex.
