340 engine

I am just getting into mopars I was a Chevy man my whole life but I really love the challenges and cudas.
I am restoring a 1971 challenger RT in citron yellow.
I also have a complete 1970 340 engine ready for assembly. All machine work was done and comes with all new bearings, pistons gaskets, rings crank, heads, lifters.
What’s it worth?

Very hard to say exactly as it is a matter of opinion. To the guy who needs it to complete his numbers matching resto, quite a bit. Post the numbers on the block.

To somebody who needs a legit 340, less, but still around 4 grand is my wild ass guess. Remember, they have the same crank as a 318, just a larger bore.

I always liked small blocks, 318s, 360s, 408 stroker.... until I built a 440. And they are cheap, relatively speaking. Modern hemi swaps are becoming popular too. So it depends on what the buyer is willing to pay.

I have an A66 Challenger with a 340. I keep track on 340 engines to see what’s out there. Always looking to have a date close extra.
70 -71 340’s sell for a premium over the 72-73’s. I have seen prices from $2500 for a running engine or one that is in parts, but clean. Engines that have been rebuilt or stroked can go for $3500 and up. Builders are selling stroked 340’s all done up for $5-8k.
Specific to what you have; clean with new parts, and ready to assemble; I would guesstimate $3500

What is the vin stamp that is stamped on a boss on the passengers side just above the oil rail.
What are the cast numbers on the sides of the block?

These numbers determine it's basic value.

Do things like this add to the value or they are just oddities?
