New to Mopars just picked up a early (built 8/26/69) 70 Challenger. I dont know how long in the Challenger production run this tank drain was kept. My question is are there any 100% reproduction tanks out there that have this drain? If not I'd like suggestion on a tank renew company.
Thank you...

The 1970 Challenger did not have a fuel tank drain plug from the factory. Chrysler products had not used drain plugs since the late 1950s. The drain plug in the pictured tank was added.

Pulled this image from a thread right below mine. Claimed an original from a 70 Challenger. Looks like it has a drain in the center..

The tank shown in this image is a 1970 (California) or 1971 Challenger tank configured for the Evaporative Control System (ECS). ECS was part of Chrysler's Vapor Saver System which was a step in the evolution of their Cleaner Air System (CAS).

The four tubes on the side are the vent tubes, to collect vapors, which lead to the vapor separator. The tank is shown with the top up. The plug in the top is a part of the internal thermal expansion tank as shown in the following images. It is a way to drain the inner tank if the main tank is removed, not a main tank drain plug, which is drained through the filler tube opening with the tank removed.

The following image shows the tank label:

Thank you. I do appreciate your taking the time to explain the ECS system and pointing out what I thought was a drain, is not.
I have hand written maintenance paper work from my cars original owner. The second owner apparently owned the car for a short period, then the guy I got it from had it since 1996. I doubt Jon the last owner added the plug but will ask him..
