Engine pad question

should a 71 383 have a stamped pad like this one?

Yes but as it says right there on that page it’s on the other side of the distributor to the left as you’re facing the engine from the front. You have a “B” engine.

That’s what I thought...someone told me it’s only a 440

You are correct. I had seller go back a third time and it’s under the distributor and fuel line. Stamped C383 and likely a date too but obscured.

the pad was on all RB blocks so the 413 , 426 wedge & Hemi & the 440 blocks

Yes, in the front and very easy to see.

So, it doesn't sound like the seller really knows what he has got.

hope mine is not there because it's painted over...don't really want to scrape the paint off to verify right now...I already know it's not numbers matching
