Is there any difference in the turn signal switch between 70 and 73?
As far as the plug that plugs into the harness... the stirring column had a new turn signal switch installed When I had gotten it...the plug doesn't seem to want to fit the original wiring harness under the dash... Seems to be a little different

Make sure the wiring is correct.

This is from another post.

MOPAR turn signal Switch colors---------- After market Switch colors-------------AAW wire colors

Stop lamps-------------White -----------------White------------------------------------White

L F turn signal --------LT Green--------------GREEN ----------------------------------Light blue

R F turn signal -------Tan---------------------Yellow/ Blk Stripe ------------------Dark Blue

Emg Flasher ----------Pink-------------------RED --------------------------------------Brown

Turn signal Flasher--Red---------------------BLUE ------------------------------------Purple

L R turn signal-------Dark Green----------- Lt Green --------------------------------Yellow

R R turn signal-------Brown-----------------Yellow -----------------------------------Dark Green

Horn relay------------Black-------------------Grn/w-----------------------------------Black

AAW wiring. So you needed to cut the plug from the switch? This is what the colors would be on a new turn signal switch. The AAW wiring colors. Figure F. The Mopar wiring colors. My opinion: If you have the the car side of the turn signal sw plug. I would cut it with enough wire to remove the insulation. Then soldier the AAW wires to the plug wires and have shrink tube on before soldiering. Or get one. That way you retain ease of replacement and or trouble shooting. They are low current.

BEAWARE After market switch colors may vary. Pay no attention to the color chart in the picture. I have no idea what it is referring to.

The picture below shows the bullet connector. To remove there are 2 stabs on the side that stick out. I use a very small screw driver to push the tabs down. Then carefully move them back in place before installing if need be. Same for the other connector. There is a tool for that. I don't have one I just didn't know better way back when. I stuck myself a few time. I still don't hare the tool.

I could be ignorant of the fact. That there was a change of the plug. The wiring color match up. look to be the same. Might be from a different model?

Use a test light to see if the wiring is correct. With it unplugged feed power to 18R on sw plug.
Remember 18BK is the ground for the horn.
If you have the old plug. Change them out.

Look above I posted other pictures.

Ive just got a turn signal switch for my 73 from Rockauto,i cant get my 8 pin connector plug to fit either,im thinking of cutting new plug off and fitting old plug ,been a real pita as this, the switch is really stiff and hard to move with turn signal lever, seems theres alot of headaches with this unit

In post number 5, he talks about doing that.. They make a pin tool that makes it easy to push the pins out of the connector and put them in your old connector...

Not sure if these are the correct tools.
on these 50+ year old cars, the connector points through the electrical system can get "iffy." A good cleaning of each connection point can give you piece of mind and may last another 50 years. There are some spiffy tools to help you remove the crimped (bullet and spade) connectors from the plastic connection points without harming them. They look something like:

First, I gave up on these cheap reproduction T/S switches years ago, mainly for durability issues at the switch head. They are junk, won’t have anything to do with them anymore. Yes, the dimensions of the connector are out of tolerance as compared to the originals. They can be forced together and electrically function, results in damage to the dash harness side of the connector normally. You can try to remove some material off the ends of the repo connector to get a better fit.
