Im using the stock 906 heads that I sent into the shop to have cleaned up and are doing a valve job on. Down the road I think I will have them ported. And ya you guys could definitely see my confusion if you thought it was 340.:happy8: Dematt - I have a brand new set of connecting rods (but...
Well sorry but didn't mopar rate the engine at 490 lb/ft stock without accessories (alternator water pump and ac etc.)? This is the big performance 4 barrel model with the 725 carb (from mopar: 375 horse and 490 lb/ft.). Doesn't seem too far fetched to be able to gain 10 lb/ft from new headers...
No i did not give them the pistons. My mistake I guess but what you gonna do. It is the stock crank but its a forged steel model. No i have not bought an engine kit. I looked at them but I already have purchased most of the things included in that kit I am getting a new cam as well. The rings...
Hey guys getting pretty close to done with the 440 now I need a car to put it in. I am looking for a "project" not too bad though. I don't want a rust bucket but I am willing to pay for a nice car. I would like a car where I can yank out the existing engine and drop the 440 in it and I could...
Hey guys I am rebuilding my 440 and its getting bored right now and I'm trying to pick out the right cam. I want to get a flat tappet I was wondering if I could use the stock lifters or do I need new ones. Also I want the car to have power brakes down the road. I was looking at about a 286 adv...

Yepp. Alright. Well I do appreciate the advice and will let you guys know how the build goes. Oh and I also learned that my high school will be opening up a "Mechanics" class my senior year, so something to look forward to.
sorry guys and especially leo I did not mean to go off on you yesterday just had a pretty lousy day. But I have checked all my local machine shops and our flat rate for machine work down here is just so high its the best place close enough to home I could find.
I do appreciate everybodies...
The shop has already given me the quote and they said I can save 40 bucks if I pull the cam bearings myself. I am just trying to save some money instead of paying the machine shop all that money.
Well guys I have pulled all the plugs and now I need to remove the cam journals (bearings) has does one go about this. Also I haven't been able to pull the big freeze plug on the back of the engine. any tips? thanks
Well guys I thought I was done with the teardown of the 440 but realized I forgot to pull the freeze plugs. So today I started getting after it but am unable to pull the ones from the block and the ones on the gront and back of the heads. Anybody else know what to do or have pulled these plugs...
Well guys it turns out that a 15 year old kid with some help from his pop can tear down a 440 mag. the engine is all in pieces. I have got a big piece of mopar iron in my garage :headbang: and it is off to Kenyon Machine this week to bored over and cleaned up. I am having the heads baked and...
