i have a 74 challenger with a 360 auto..i pulled my headers off to replace with some new ones.i always had a leak at the head on both sides just below the exhaust ports.so now that i have the headers off i can see what looks to be a hole below each port that looks like someone has tried to fill with weld???? i dont have the stock manifolds to refer to so i am guessing these were for AIR air injection.????is this correct and if so what do i do???thanks

You are correct, those are air injection ports. So long as they do not leak air, your fine. They are not correct heads for the car.

Most people drill and tap for a 1/4 X 20 stud and simplely block it off in that manor. Welding it closed is fine, just make sure you weld it right so the wled doesn't leak/fall out.
