No. There are too many variables such as engine condition etc. Change the gears, put an overdrive in it or stay off of the highway. My Challenger 6 pack is a 4:10 Dana car. I changed it to 3:54.

I can't tell you. It was changed around 30 years ago. I believe they are Richman gears from Randy's ring and pinion. The car has been parked for 25 years due to life getting in the way.

You might try changing the ratio some by going with a taller tire. When I ran 32 inch tall tires with the 4:10 it was like having a 3:91 gear in the back. Plus I got the advantage of the larger roll out from the 32.

I'm guessing you aren't planning a great deal of highway mileage with 4.10 gears. Change the gears, tires or whatever if you don't like rpm's or the fuel mileage with the 4.10 gears. But consider this. How many Dodge pickup trucks are cruising the highways with 440's and 4.10 gears with over 100,000 miles on them? I've had two.

A well known 70 440-6bbl road runner[4.10 rear and stock tire] used for towing cadavers in crash cars, was cruised around metro Detroit freeways at 70 mph for years. She was singing, but didn't seem to hurt it a bit. I rode in it several times.

4.10 with stock "F" series tires will turn about 3750 at 70 mph
3.54 will lower that to 3475 or so.

the 3.54 with taller tire works very well if you plan to drive on the HWY a good bit.

FWIW -
my best friend's dad bought a 70 hemi Challenger new with 4.10 and rove the hell out of it for a good 15 years. it was his commuter car back then and his drive was a good 45 miles each way every day.
mostly HWY (garden state PKWY in NJ).
it did just fine, sucked down a BUTT load of gas, but it only cost around .35 cents for the good stuff back then.

New gears are cheaper than rebuilding a engine. :D

I replaced my 3:91 with a 3:55 and have a Tremec 5 speed. 70mph in 5th is 2,000rpm.

All of those old stories are fine but lets cut to the chase, nobody here would even think about doing that to their Mopar today. Callenger6pak had it right in posting #2. Change the gears, get an overdrive unit or just stay off of the highway. Those are just facts. Also Bill's posting on #6 is a great piece of information that everyone should put in their favorites folder. It will calculate any combination you want to try, for FREE.
