70 440 Cuda Headers

I'm considering adding headers to my 70 440 Cuda with Borgeson steering box. I see alot of threads about fitment issues. Anyone have experience / recommendations on what headers to use with the Borgeson box ?

Doug's Headers D452 and TTI have little to no fitment issues.

The is some issues with Gen 3 hemi's, the Borgeson Box and Holley motor mounts, but no issues with the 440.

I went to summit racing and on checking the D452 fitment for a 70 440 cuda, Summit says No? I tend to believe you over a web page but?

I was using the TTI headers (440-178) on my 72 Challenger. The PS clearance is fine. I just pulled the headers off & will sell them because I'm going back to the HP manifolds. Yes, they make the engine performance excellent but at a cost. One tube almost touches the mini starter and makes it get really hot after a drive. Hardly any room to even apply heat wrap. The other issue is trying to get to the #6 spark plug. It can be done but really challenging (par for my Challenger!). I tried screwing in the compression testing gauge into #6 but I could not get it started. Very frustrating. For me, the drawbacks outweigh the benefits so going back to more of a stock configuration.

No problem. Overall the headers went in pretty easily. Had some cheap hedman headers on my 69 Charger 440 back in the 80's. Those REALLY cooked my starter so yanked them and went back to stock. Hot rodding is fun, until it's not!!!

Sometimes when companies aren't sure, they say they don't fit or say nothing. The 440 is taller so one would think the tubes would be easier to get out of the way, but sometimes not.

Changing sparks on a big block with hp exhaust manifolds is easier from underneath. Plus the floor is cool at its s good place for a nap!

Hey, naps are part of my daily routine, when I can sneak one in! I work on my cars early in the morning when its cool, then do more inside activities... including naps, after that!

Ha !! Yea, I found out the only way to get #6 is from the floor, I think I got that info from you
