Is there anyone on here that is running there Cuda or Challenger without a fan shroud? I noticed mine doesn't have one and wondered if its a big deal or not?
Well, Ma Mopar would not have put fan shrouds in their cars if they thought they were not needed. Those shrouds improve the efficiency of the cooling system to control air flow. Now being in Canada maybe you can get by without one, but in the hotter climates they are needed. Those shrouds also help to keep your fingers and hands out the fan.
I have a 71 Cuda with a 472 hemi and 5 speed tremic. Also a be cool radiator, 180 thermostat, 7 blade fan with clutch, and the hood to radiator support rubber, and for the most part runs 180. When its 90 plus I avoid driving it because temp. gauge goes up like my fuel gauge goes down. I do have a half of shroud because stock doesn't work on Be Cool Rads.
I run my '70 Challenger without a fan shroud, so far no problems. When you run a Challenger with a SL6 you do not get a fan shroud from the factory. You do get one if the car has A/C, the kicker try to find a fan shroud for an A/C equipped Challenger. Next to impossible. Installing a V-8 is not an option, even to get a fan shroud. My Dodge is a first day issue out of the LA plant. Thanks, Al
