70 n code 383 flexplate converter combo ?

I am trying to sort out which flexplate and torque converter I need for my 70 383HP. Is it th 11 inch pattern or 10? Is it converter neutral balance or does it have weights? What is the OE stall speed? Thanks for any info in advance?
 
Use the factory converter made for the 340. You will be happier with it than the original 383 converter.
 
I Don't know the part number. It has the larger ring gear (around an inch) and uses the small flexplate. It is a slightly higher stall than the 383 unit. When you put the car in gear it stops the clunk sound when going into gear. You don't feel any slipage. It will help the car's time getting off of the line also. Every transmission shop I've been to orders it as a 1970 340 Challenger torque converter. If you have a cast crank order it as a 73 340 Challenger converter.
 
The 340, 383-4, and 440-4HP all used the same convertor. The factory "hi stall" which is actually about 10.5" in diameter plus the ring gear and use the smaller flex plate. The differences in stall have to do with the engine in that chassis (meaning the combination), not the convertor itself. The 383-2 and 440-4 used the larger 11", "low stall" unit with the larger flex plate.
