'71 Cuda Carburetor

Looking for some carburetor input - Getting ready to build out my 440 which will be going in a '71 Cuda. Thinking of going with an Edelbrock four barrel w/ electric choke. What cfm rating should I be looking for? What is everyone else running on their 440 automatic set-up's?

Stock/Mild rebuild? I bought both the 600 & the 750 cfm Performer series and the 600 had better throttle response on a mild 440 but my understanding is the Thunder series is a better choice.

Yes, this will be a stock to very mild 440 daily driver.

What cam are you going to use ?
Eddy carbs will not adjust to low vacuum at idle , actually they are barely adjustable at all .
carbs have evolved at LOT in 40 years , Eddy carbs have not they are just making the same carb from the 60s .
I would be looking at a Proform for the best value for the $$ , properly tuned these will respond similar to EFI , as for CFM 2x the CI is where I start , the factory installed a 800 CFM TQ in a 340 , 750 is small for a 440

Lower Stall coverter 2200+
1800 - 6000 RPM
110 degree overlap

Any other thoughts other that a Proform carb?

I just put A quick fuel 750 on my 383, replacing the carter that was on it. love it, the engine woke right up.,

After additional research . . . thinking about a Holley 750.

I would use a Lunati VooDoo cam over the Comp , far better all the way around , beter idle & vacuum & more lift . power too . Look at the 702 cam
QF or Proform would be my top choice Holley HP is decent too
800 CFM would be the minimum
