71 'Cuda fenders, original, or reproductions?

I recently purchased some 71 gilled 'Cuda fenders. It appears at one point that they were media blasted, or acid dipped and stored with no primer/paint on them. The are not rotted or scaly, surface rust is my concern. since these have rust, I cannot see any "stenciled" part numbers on them, is there some stampings somewhere on the inner fender parts, so that I can tell if they are original 71 parts? If so, can you tell me exactly where to look for these numbers? Thanks much in advance.

I think only replacement parts have a part # painted on. I have a 71 Cuda when I bought it had a 70 replacement fender with the part # on it but had the gill plate welded on. But I eventually got an NOS 71 fender with the gill openings in it. The 70 fender had the part # painted on the inside and is very noticeable. When parts are stored that's when they need part # on them. Back in 67 I was able to go in the Newark, Delaware warehouse to pick out a bell housing for my 350 B engine. The place was huge and that is when parts need to be marked. Today they have paper bar codes on all the parts installed on the vehicle.

There should be numbers stamped into fenders inner edge, and there are other little things that you can tell if a factory original fender.

Where did you find these fenders I’ve been searching for an original passenger side fender gilled fender for awhile.

I got an NOS 71 gilled fender about 35 years ago where it was located somewhere in Canada. It seems passenger side were hit more often then drivers side, so back then they were harder to find. I was very lucky to get this one and doubt if any more NOS are available, but you never know, someone may be hoarding one. Only an AMD repro sure bet today. 35 years ago very little repro parts available so be thankful we have AMD and they gave me a shaker hood for my car.

Let's see some pictures of the fender. That might help with determining if it is an original or not.
What gauge is the steel?
Are there any numbers stamped on the fender? On the upper rail maybe?

Thanks for responding, I appreciate it. I will get some pictures later today. The reason that I cannot seem to see the stenciled number is that the fenders seem to have been prepped for painting (primer or primer and paint) a while ago, then stored appear to have been red primered originally, I want to be careful with them. I don't really trust the sand blasting companies here. But, I do want to preserve them correctly.

Both my fenders are stamped on the flat inner edge, pass. side stamped SS 36 R2 and also stamped MK-34-2. The drivers side is SS 36 L1 and very hard to read other stamping on fender, but both fenders are stamped in the same location on inner flat edge. I don't think AMD was around back then.

Those look like original fenders and stampings should be some more stampings on the inner lip of fender.

The first stamping is at the front right next to the hood bumper and the second stamping is between the second and third fender bolt from the rear of fender. And that is on both fenders. Are the repros stamped the same? They could be so then it would be impossible to tell OEM from repros.

For those that were following this thread, thanks so much for leading me to the correct information. Mopar guys are the best, I found another number today, on the passenger side fender, which seems to confirm these are legit! Thanks, again

To me it's hard to tell, as old as my eyes are, but are those numbers raised? Mine are stamped into the metal.

The person who inquired about my fenders has passed as he doesn't need a pair. I would prefer to sell them together, so I will create a for sale ad soon. Thanks again guys for your input!
