I'm happy to report that not too long I went through closing on a house. Small rural community about ten-fifteen minutes where I grew up. It sits on 5 plus acres of pretty much flat land that gives me plenty of room to spread out and enjoy.

One of the things I've always enjoyed doing was gardening. Especially roses. In Elmira we had a small rose garden with all the roses it could handle. I'd tend to them, nurture them, and watch them grow. Sarah especially loved being able to go out and cut fresh roses for the table. I planted them for her.

Those roses had to come with me to the new place.

For three days last week I got out and picked the sod loose in 90° heat, turned the soil over, and laid out lawn edging to shape it in.

It measures 14' long at the straight sides and 14' wide.

Once the roses start filling in I figure the color and green will look good against the black mulch.

There's room for about ten more. I hope to filling it soon.

Very nice. Did she have any special color or type of rose?

Thanks, guys.

I'll post pics of it in bloom and as I fill it in.

Ray, when we first planted the garden she insisted on just one: A Peace Rose. It's a soft, gentle pink color. Other than that, we shopped and she found colors that she liked.

I lost two in the move. I'm not sure which ones I lost. I'm hoping the Peace Rose isn't one them.

I'm pleased to say, though, that Katie's little red paradise rose made the move nicely. It's at the very tip of the heart.

That is awesome Robert and a great idea for remembrance. Rose gardens are beautiful.
