A66 Challenger was converted to a SS 440-6 race car way back.
Car is now for sale
Looking to clarify the serial number for the Registry,
Anyone want to take a shot at it; difficulty reading one number of the serial number.
I am reading; JH23 H0B 1_5312 Missing number possible a 5?

Above car turned out to be a 318 car cloned into an A66. Seller did well getting the sale price that it was sold at. JH23 G0B 392071

The car is a plum crazy/white interior automatic A66 which was sold to Australia. Was for sale in Hemmings in November 2019 for $75K by the Australian owner. Car is listed in the A66 Registry.

Mecum Blast from the Past.

A66 Challenger 4 sp in Y1 w original V-8 emblems sold at Mecum Houston in April 2014 for $35K Looks like auction prices have increased for clean A66 cars in the last 7 years. I think this car was picked up back then and has been put up for sale at a significantly higher price more recently!

Questions have been asked about how many 2 tone Challengers were made in 1970 and of that number, how many were A66 Challengers?
They are a rarity on any Challenger that was ordered with the two tone paint (V02). The statistics I have found on this for V02 JH23 Challengers was 1.8% of total production, or only 995 cars. Specific to our A66 Registry; there are two cars currently in the Registry with a documented V02 on the tag. There is the white EW1 Challenger with an blue EB3 painted top. The second car is an EK2 Challenger with a EW1 white top. As far as how many were A66 Challengers; You could take 1.8% of A66 hardtop production of 6933 to get a potential 124 A66 Challenger hardtops with the option. This of course is a big "guestimate" since 1.8% of A66 purchasers may not have wanted two tone paint.

The topic of when A66 Challengers were coded with the J54 sport hood on the fender tag. Based on the A66 Challenger Registry, here is the breakdown;

Total of partial or full information on 185 A66 Challengers as of October 2021

A total of 37 A66 Challengers IN THE REGISTRY have the J54 code.

HOE coded cars = 5 (1 Jan, 1 Feb, 3 April)

HOB coded cars = 31. (1 Oct car) No cars for November or December. (3-January, 2-Feb, 6-March, 2-April, 4-May, 10-June and 3-July) ----+++++Bottom line.

ALL J54 cars in the Registry are coded starting in January on - EXCEPT for the one October 5th HOB convertible

A correction to the above statement regard the inclusion of the J54 code on early A66 Challengers;
I went back to the full file on the specific potential early build A66 with a code of J54 sport hood. The tag only was submitted to the A66 Registry and was difficult to read (was posted backwards) Who Knows Why?
The tag decode list that came with the tag was incorrect. It is an A66 Challenger with a SPD of June 18th. (partial serial number with blocked out numbers) and is coded J54.
The January on-ward J54 code is still accurate based on the Registry data.

There is some credible information from a poster on forum e-bodies that there are J54 coded A66 Challengers with a December build date, but only for Hamtramck built cars. I will continue to monitor this.

Beautiful A66 Challenger, automatic with a great color combination with the white interior and side stripe. This A66 has a rallye dash, factory am fm thumbwheel radio and the rim blow wheel. Thank you to Mark L for posting on the A66 Registry site.
