Hey guys,
Great site and lots of useful information. My question is this: I recently purchased a '73 Cuda from a gentleman and he included an extra hood with the sale. He told me he thought it was an original AAR hood because he had purchased the car from a fella that had a real AAR car and it always sat next to the car I purchased. With so many reproductions out there, how can I tell if it is the real deal? I have read that the hood pin plates were riveted on the originals and repops used screws. Mine is missing the pin plates but the rivets are still sticking out the top. Any info would be appreciated along with values if it is real. Thanks again! Post pics of the underneath. Also post pics on the top of the rear half of the hood.

It is hard to tell on some of them without seeing it in person. From the pics, I would guess it is an original.

Not without seeing it in person. It appears whole with a lot of cracks. It was repaired in the hinge area in at least one spot. I would call it a worthwhile project to repair.

Thanks for the info. There are no real cracks in it but there are four cut marks around the center of the scoop that were intentionally put there. Almost looks like they were trying to make relief cuts to allow for flexing or bulging. Also, along both side of the hood there is aluminum angle epoxied (?) to stiffen the sides and reinforce the hood hinge areas. I know it is hard to judge condition in pictures but what would a decent hood go for? I am looking for a ball park price to list it at if I decide to sell it and I do not know where to start. Thanks again.

Sounds like someone left the hood pins off and took aff down the road. The hoods would fly up and break off at the hinges. Do some research on Ebay, Google, Mopar sites, etc. and find a price you think you will be happy to get for it.

Wow, I cannot find an original hood anywhere to get an idea of where to start on this thing! I know Year One wants $950 for a reproduction.

I repaired a bunch of AAR and TA hoods, back in the day. I'd buy them for next to nothing, once they blew off someone's car. Unless a person HAD to have an original hood for their car....I'd suggest a repop. I would imagine that one's also bowed.
