I have a 1972 Challenger restored 6 years ago, and never had any trouble with it. Having trouble with balancing 1976 la360 to my A727 transmission.

Wht exactly do you mean you are having trouble balancing ? 360 is externally balanced, uses a special flw plate/or torque convertor.
360 torque converter is neutral balanced, but it has a weighted flex plate. The weight is usually behind the flex plate, and can be seen when the converter is turned over. Aftermarket balancers for 360s are usually neutral, but have a weight bolted in.

Here are some other things to know about 360 torque converters:

  • 360s are all externally balanced.
  • If the 360 is automatic, you will need a 360 damper, and an externally balanced flex plate or torque converter.
  • If the 360 is stick, you will need an externally balanced flywheel.
To test a torque converter, you can:

  1. Step on the pedal to the floor
  2. Accelerate your engine for up to five seconds
  3. Check the reading for revolutions per minute (RPM) at the stall speed
Some symptoms of a bad torque converter include:

  • Illuminated check engine light
  • Slipping between gears
  • Shuddering
  • Leaking transmission fluid
  • Loss of acceleration
  • Overheated transmission
  • Weird noises

Check engine light??????? Don't have one of those......factory must have screwed up on my cars I guess.

You probably already know, but for others that read this later on, I want to add a little bit to what Moparleo said. Magnum 360s are balanced differently from LA 360s. They use different harmonic balancers and different combinations of weighted or neutral converters with weighted or neutral flex plates… something to be aware of when gathering parts for your build. Make sure you get LA 360 parts, not Magnum.
