I bought a nonrunning project car and this was with it. It obviously is an 8" convertor for a 727 and not used much.
It is stamped DX-5 with 3/8" stamps and SS with a 1/4" stamp.
Anybody recognize the mfgr?
I would like to get some info before I decide what project to use it for. Hughes, Yank, TCI, and Roadrunner don't recognize it.
THANKS!

TIMINATOR, there are dozens of torque convertor companies out there these days! Lord only knows what you might have and how good it is. I'm guessing the front side has nothing on it?

Nope. Not a thing.
I called and sent pics to the big four companies here in AZ. and a total of 13 more national companies before I posted. Since I know the peeps a Hughes (local to me), I think I will cut it open and see what it seems to be. I will talk to my guys over there gor their opinion and have them reweld it. If I don't use it for any of my projects, I can comfortably sell it knowing what it will do.
I have modified them before, so no big deal.
THANKS!

That could be that old GER convertor company that used to advertise all over the place. They didn't last very long.

I was just looking at the picture of the converter and noticed that it has the ring gear welded to it which, I think, is not a Mopar torque converter. Looks like a GM style converter.

Could be a GM/Mopar hybrid too as a lot of GM cars used to drag race with 727 torquefites prior to all the beefed up aftermarket Chevy transmission parts.

Disregard my previous entry. I had a brain fart. I was backwards on my GM style converter thought.. This quote from Billy Madison is fitting here..

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
