body moldings

Very hard to find, especially the original Mopar ones. @Cudahunter may be the best source for info on them. I think he may know something about them, but maybe not?

If you refer to the rubber door-ding protector trim running along the body line, I think those were dealer installed, not an OEM factory part. So there may be several options that will work and look vintage.

Here's a few pieces I have that follow the body lines of the Challenger. They had female plastic pieces slid into the molding channel on the back which were then attached to the male metal pins on the fenders, door and rear quarter panels. The pins looked like the pins used to hold the clips for the exterior windshield trim moldings. When I removed these, I had to weld up alot of holes after removing the pins.

They are a factory molding and hard to find since most people have removed them over the years and discarded them.

I have some 1970 V5X pieces that are not it terrible shape, I don’t have a complete set, but it’s a start.

hard to find indeed. Yes Terry W., the molding channels and inserts is exactly what i need. specifically a channel for my passenger door (56.5in) and the driver side fender (60in).

I have these but they might have been glued to the body of my car since the channels/tracks are missing.

@booyaballer. I'm in Washington state. If you lived close to me, I'd tell ya to come over and get them. Shipping is a killer now. I'd go out and measure the long one for you but I fell and injured my right hip today and am struggling to walk. ER took an x-ray and said I didn't break anything. Maybe tomorrow.

Ok. I won't break anything tomorrow. I truly thought i had broke my femur or pelvis when I fell today. I need to pay closer attention to where I'm walking.

@booyaballer, I bought a set of V5X moldings from @One of few last year. The shipping tube was 69.5 X 4. I don't recall the total weight. The tube was shipped via USPS from MI to Northern VA. I don't recall the exact price but it was reasonable. I'm confident you'll find both @One of few and @terrywalker are excellent people to do business with just as I have.

The door pieces seem to be the least hardest to find, just keep a sharp eye on any 1970 -74 doors for sale.

Good luck with your hunt.

Terry,

I second what others have stated regarding your fall. I'm sure you'll be sore for a few days to a week but better than the alternative. It was such a great pleasure to meet your son last year. Hopefully you can still make it to Carlisle this year.

Take care.
M.

Definitely take your time Terry and get healthy first! I have plenty of other car issues that need attention.

Thanks everyone for the input!
