Hi,
I'm about to restore it and found out that a grumble occured when I drive in the 2nd gear at 2500rpms. also in the 3rd gear at 2500 and above.

The engine is a 340cui and A727 transmission with a 8 3/4" rear end. 3.91

I checked the unversial joints. THe rear axle and so on.

It only happens at load and under drive condiztions.

May somebody has an Idea?

Broken or worn trans or motor mounts might cause a vibration, as stylo suggests.

Have you checked the lube level in your rear end?

Put it up on jack stands. Locate rear jack stands under the rear axle housing. This will keep the driveline in proper alignment. You need someone to go through the gears inside while you are on the outside to tracking it down.
