I'm redoing my carpet on my 70 auto, and received my package today from TrimParts.
Part no. 53658 for a 71-74 Challenger w/auto.
I ordered a 70 Challenger w/auto from Year One.
I called Year One and they say there's no difference between 70 and 71 thru 74.
I called TrimParts and they say the floor pans are different between 70 and 71.
They also give a part no. of 53629 for the 70 Challenger w/ auto.
Anybody have an issue like this?
I don't want to open the box for a test fit for not being able to return it.
Also, I have a new (under carpet retractor on the male side) seatbelt kit that came with the car, is it only for a 70?
My floor pans are original.
Any ideas guys?
Thanks in advance, Curt

Let some others chime in but I don't think there are any differences great enough to keep you from using the later in your '70 but if they have the correct one in stock I'd make them exchange it.

The ridges in the floors are slightly different between 70 and 71 up. I agree with Matt, go correct if you can but if it is not a show car, don't worry about it. Did you ask Trim parts what the differences are?

I recently had a conversation about this as well. I think the '70 has "lips or edges" on the side that go up along the inner edge of the rocker. The '71 and later are just flat and only lay on the top edge of the rocker. Or it could be vise versa. It sounded to me like they would interchange though. I could be wrong.
