Hi folks,

I'm rounding the final turn of my 1970 AAR restoration and finishing up the trunk. Fortunately I had the original space saver spare but nothing else. So I purchased a (facsimile) bottle and strap, and the spare hold down bolt and nut. Have a date correct jack and jack holding spring.

But in some pictures I've seen with the space saving spare installed there appears to be a bracket underneath it. I'm not sure with a space saver whether there is such a bracket or if that is somehow only for regular spare tires. Multiple places sell the bracket. Here is one taken at random:
https://www.megapartsusa.com/proddetail.php?prod=187-817-1570-1

So, my questions are: 1) Do I need a bracket that goes underneath the space saver tire, and 2) If the answer to Q1 is yes, is the part I referenced the correct one or what is correct?

Thanks in advance.

Yes and yes. Here’s a pic from the web of an AAR Cuda trunk. I believe all hardtop e-bodies got that same bracket. Convertibles got a different bracket.
