What is this blemish? Send it?

Two questions: Does it catch your fingernail? What is the application and how particular are you?

It certainly looks like it would be okay for driver type applications. If you want to get real particular about it, it appears that the only way to clean it up would be to bore it.

It looks like a stain. I can barely see hatch marks in part of it. What's the story? Did it get moisture in it after it was assembled? If it doesn't have any depth to it, I'd try running that piston all the down in the hole, put a rag in there (to trap the fluid) and try scrubbing it with lime or lemon juice (citric acid) and an old toothbrush and see if it goes away. Otherwise, if there's depth it's the next size bigger (be sure to sonic check it)!

Xcuda, Its a fresh bore, 4.375 (sitting sealed for 8mos). The first thing that popped in my brain was a thin spot in the bore. I scrubbed on it and the lines are gone but the oval blemish is still there. Was thinking its a thin spot in bore that got hot when they bored it. Gonna send it as a street motor about 400-450hp

Looks like grit from a hone. Wipe all cylinders down with a cleaner. Acetone, lacquer thinner or other and re lube.
